Patrick Lofft will be our featured speaker. The title of his presentation is "Delving Deeper into the Census and Beyond." One of the most basic -- and yet, depending on the decade, most detailed -- resources for family history research is the United States Census. Patrick will delve into how to mine the hidden treasures of this decennial document we so often take for granted.

Sarah Clift will be presenting, "Where the Paper Trail Ends: Solving Adoption and Unknown Parentage Cases with DNA." Sarah is a professsional genealogist living in Sacramento County; she is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society.

The San Joaquin Genealogical Society (SJGS) and the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Stockton Chapter are excited to co-sponsor a seminar on researching your Japanese ancestry. 
 
Linda Harms Okazaki, a noted expert in Japanese American genealogy and history, will be the featured speaker. Her presentation will begin with Japanese-American history and family research in the United States, and will conclude with family research in Japan. We hope you can join us for this exciting and informative event! Please see the attached flier for more details.
 
SJGS volunteers will be offering short personal genealogy consultations after the seminar, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Bring any known names and vital dates (birth, marriage, death) for your ancestors, and let us help you learn more about their history. 
 
ALL ATTENDEES MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE! There will not be any at-the-door ticket sales. General admission is $15/person. The class is limited to 60 participants, so be sure to register early to secure a spot!
 
You may register for this seminar in one of two ways:
(1) Visit the SJGS Store page and complete your order and payment online by April 20, 2019, or
(2) Click on the "Seminar flier and registration form" link below, print out and fill in the paper registration form, and mail it to SJGS along with your check. Forms must be mailed by April 15, 2019.
 
Note: SJGS members and Stockton JACL members may attend this seminar at a discounted rate ($10/person). To receive the discount for online ticket orders (SJGS members only), log into the Members Only page of the website with your user name and password BEFORE beginning the order process on the SJGS Store page. To receive the discount when using the paper registration form (SJGS and Stockton JACL members), check the appropriate box on the form.
 
Refreshments will be provided, but attendees should bring a bag lunch to enjoy during the seminar break.
